Cherry Creek is an easy hike of about 1.9 miles in the Groveland Ranger District of Stanislaus National Forest in California, managed by the Forest Service. The nearest town is Mather, about 5 miles away. The trail is an out-and-back with a low point of about 2,540 feet and a high of about 2,713 feet, so the climb is only about 137 feet one way. The surface is natural, and the route is open to both horses and bikes. For comfortable weather, aim for late spring or early fall. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Groveland show May highs around 73°F and October highs around 74°F, while July and August average about 91°F. North Mountain Lookout is about 0.6 miles away and Preston Falls about 0.9 miles.
