Andresen Mine is a hard hike in the Groveland Ranger District of Stanislaus National Forest in California, about 9.7 miles long with a one-way climb of 754 feet. The trail is managed by the Forest Service and is rated hard, so plan for a steady effort over the course of the out-and-back route. The trail is natural-surfaced and allows both horses and bikes, so it works for riders and pack animals as well as hikers. The climb takes you from a low point of about 2,064 feet to a high of about 2,391 feet. For comfortable weather, aim for late spring or early fall. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Groveland show May highs around 73°F and October highs around 74°F, while July and August average about 91°F. Several other destinations sit close by. Cherry Creek and Preston Falls are both within about 2 miles, North Mountain Lookout is about 1.8 miles away, and Spinning Wheel campground is about 3.9 miles off.
