Sandy Flat Campground is a Forest Service campground in the Kern River Ranger District of Sequoia National Forest, about 12 miles southwest of Lake Isabella, California. It sits along the lower Kern River and offers 35 family campsites, including 6 walk-in sites, with vault toilets and water on site. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station show April highs around 73°F and October highs around 81°F, while July and August average highs near 98°F. Hobo Campground is just 0.6 miles away, and the Rec. Mine Trail and Kern Canyon Trail are both within about a mile and a half. Main Dam Campground is roughly 4.8 miles off.
