Northwind Campground is a Forest Service campground in California's Eldorado National Forest, within the Pacific Ranger District. The land is managed by the Forest Service, and the site itself is a base for exploring the surrounding trails, climbing and paddling. The most comfortable months for a visit are typically June through September, when typical averages from a nearby weather station run from highs around 72°F with lows near 38°F in June to highs near 80°F in July and August, with only a couple of wet days a month. Winter there is cold, with typical highs around 43°F and lows near 18°F from December through February. The campground sits close to a cluster of outdoor options. Long Face Boulder is about 0.1 mile away, and the Ice House Reservoir climbing area is about 0.3 mile off. Strawberry Point Campground and the Ice House campground are each about half a mile away.
