Hotelling Campground is a Forest Service campground in the Salmon River Ranger District of Klamath National Forest in California, about 5 miles from the town of Black Bear. It sits right on the South Fork of the Salmon River, with four campsites close to the water. The easy access makes it a popular summer destination with locals. Summer is the most comfortable time to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Cecilville show July highs around 96°F with lows near 52°F, while September cools to highs around 89°F. That station sits about 900 feet lower than the campground, so temperatures here run cooler. Knownothing Creek, a canoeing spot, is about 1.5 miles away. Black Bear Creek, another paddling option, is about 4.5 miles off. Redbank and Matthews campgrounds are both within about 5 miles.
