Lower Billy Creek is a small Forest Service campground on Huntington Lake in the Sierra National Forest, within the High Sierra Ranger District. It sits among fir and pine trees, and every site offers scenic lake views. The camp makes a convenient base for exploring Huntington Lake and the Kaiser Wilderness, and the Billy Creek Guard Station museum, with historical overviews on the lake, Native Americans and the Forest Service, is right next door. The marina is nearby, and check-in is at the Eastwood CLM Office. Summer is the most comfortable time to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Huntington Lake show July and August highs around 74°F with lows near 49°F and only one or two wet days a month. Winter is much colder, with January highs in the low 40s. Vault toilets are the only amenity. A fee is charged. Upper Billy Creek Campground is about 0.1 mile away, and the Willow Hill mountain biking trailhead and the Billy Creek hike are both within half a mile. Pitman Creek, a canoeing spot, is about 2.7 miles off.
