Salinas River State Beach (Potrero Road)
About
Salinas River State Beach (Potrero Road) is a public ocean beach on the California coast, about a mile from Moss Landing. It has restrooms, and there is no fee to visit. Swimming is not allowed, and dogs are not permitted, so plan on a beach walk or time on the sand rather than a dip or an outing with a pet. Late summer into early fall is the driest stretch. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Watsonville show highs around 72 to 74°F from August through October, with rain on only one to three days a month. Winter brings highs near 62°F and about 10 or 11 wet days a month. Several short trails sit roughly 4 miles away, including the Five Fingers Loop Trail and South Marsh Loop Trail, and the Salinas NWR Trail is about the same distance. For camping, South Camp lies about 7 miles off.
