Fanshell Beach is a public ocean beach on the California coast, about 1.3 miles from Del Monte Forest. There is no fee to visit. Late summer into fall tends to be the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Monterey put September and October highs around 71°F, with only a few wet days a month. Winter runs cooler and wetter, with highs near 60°F. For time on the trails, Redondo Real Trail lies about 2.6 miles away. Library Statue Trail, Coffeeberry Trail and Rhus Trail are each a little over 5 miles off.
