Carlsbad City Beach
About
Carlsbad City Beach is a public ocean beach on the California coast, about 4.5 miles from the town of Carlsbad. The beach is staffed by lifeguards, swimming is allowed, and there is no fee to visit. Summer and early fall are the warmest times for a beach day. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Oceanside's municipal airport put August and September highs around 78°F, with only one or two wet days a month from June through September. For time away from the sand, Hosp Grove Trail is about 1.5 miles away and Tomato Fields Trail about 2.7 miles. Climbers can head to Wall of sage, roughly 3.9 miles off, or Calavera Lake, about 4.1 miles away.
