Goat Cave is a climbing area in Arkansas, about 2 miles from the town of Mount Sherman. It sits among a cluster of other climbing spots, with Undertow Boulder, West Side and Sloping Joe Boulder all within a quarter mile. The area is known for its sport routes, with a few boulders and a single trad route rounding out the options. The climbing here is mostly sport, and the grades run from about 5.10c up to 5.12c. Two of the routes, Mexican Sac Pull and Austrian Ass Attack, are among the more notable ones, and the trad route Shits and Giggles adds a different style to the mix. The bouldering at Sloping Joe Boulder is close by for those who want to switch between the two. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station show May highs around 72°F and October highs around 67°F, while July and August average about 85°F. The Buffalo River is about 3 miles away for fishing, and the Little Buffalo River offers canoeing a little farther out. The Buffalo River Trail and Ozark Campground are both within about 8 miles.
