Little Missouri North is a 6.4-mile out-and-back hike in the Caddo Ranger District of Ouachita National Forest in Arkansas, managed by the Forest Service. The trail starts at the Upper Little Mo Trailhead and reaches a high point of 1,419 feet, with the lowest point at 1,188 feet. The route is rated hard. It gains about 364 feet in elevation, and the steepest stretch comes at about 1.1 miles, where the grade reaches 14 percent. The trail is on natural surface. For comfortable conditions, aim for spring or fall. Typical averages from a nearby weather station run to highs of about 69°F in April and October, with September slightly warmer at around 79°F and the fewest wet days of the year. The trail sits within a network of routes. The Athens-Big Fork North Trail, a mountain biking route, is just 0.1 mile away, and the Eagle Rock Loop hike is about half a mile off. Shady Lake campground lies roughly 5.6 miles away, and the Little Missouri River offers paddling about 9 miles from the trail.
