Little Blakely - South Loop is a 5.7-mile loop on the Jessieville Ranger District of Arkansas's Ouachita National Forest, managed by the Forest Service. The trail rises about 650 feet from a starting point near 886 feet to a high of 945 feet, with the steepest stretch at about 3.4 miles in, where the grade reaches 16 percent. It's a moderate hike, and the route is natural-surface. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from the nearby Blakely Mtn Dam weather station, about 4.2 miles away and roughly 520 feet lower, show October highs near 73°F with lows around 48°F, and April highs near 72°F. That station sits well below the trail, so temperatures on the loop run cooler. The trip takes about two hours. The North Loop is just 0.1 mile away, and the Glades Loop and R R Loop are within a mile. The Caddo Bend Trail lies about 1.5 miles off.
