C.Creek - Tall Peak is a hard hike in the Caney Creek Wilderness, part of the Mena Ranger District of Ouachita National Forest in Arkansas. The Forest Service manages the land, and the trail is a natural-surface out-and-back that starts at about 1,194 feet and climbs to a high point of 2,299 feet. The total round-trip gain is 1,681 feet, and the steepest stretch comes at about 0.55 miles in, with a grade of 24 percent. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station show October highs around 69°F with lows near 52°F, and May highs around 74°F. That station sits about 1,100 feet lower than the trail's high point, so temperatures up top run cooler. Valuable Forest and Shady Lake are both about 0.3 miles away, and C.Creek - Buckeye Mtn is about 2.6 miles off. For paddling, Harris Creek is about 4.8 miles away.
