Below the Dam is a climbing area in Arizona, about half a mile from the town of Granite Dells. It sits close to several other climbing spots and trails, so it works well as a stop in the Granite Dells area. Six routes make up the climbing here. They run from trad at 5.6 up to trad at 5.10d, with a mixed route, Sidewinder, at 5.10a. The sport routes, Tree Line and Western Flyer, are at 5.8 and 5.10b. The area's mix of styles means climbers can choose between trad, sport and mixed climbing on a single visit. For comfortable weather, late spring and early fall are the best bets. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Prescott show May highs around 76°F and October highs around 73°F. Summer is hot and July and August bring the most wet days, while winter nights drop into the mid-20s. The Flume Trail starts just 0.1 mile away, and Watson Lake and Time Zone, two other climbing areas, are each about 0.2 mile off. The Watson Dam Trail is about 0.3 mile away.
