Telephone is a moderate out-and-back hike in the Red Rock Ranger District of Coconino National Forest in Arizona, about 1.7 miles long with a one-way elevation gain of 1,075 feet. The trail rises from about 5,400 feet to a high point of 6,370 feet, and its natural surface makes it a straightforward route for a day in the forest. The most comfortable months tend to fall between late spring and early fall. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at a similar elevation put May highs around 69°F and September highs around 76°F, while August brings the most wet days of the year at about 13. Telephone Trail #72 begins just 0.1 mile away, and Cave Springs campground sits about 0.3 mile off.
