Spring is a hard out-and-back hike in the Clifton Ranger District of the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests in Arizona. The trail gains about 1,200 feet over roughly 12.7 miles, with the low point at 5,129 feet and the high at 6,277 feet. It is a natural-surface route, and the Forest Service lists it as not accessible. The nearest town is Clifton, about 12 miles away. The most comfortable stretch for a visit is late spring or early fall. Typical averages from the nearby Glenwood, New Mexico weather station run from highs around 74°F with lows near 34°F in April to highs near 85°F with lows around 50°F in September. That station sits about 1,550 feet lower than the hike's high point, so temperatures on the trail run cooler. Summer brings highs near 91°F and the most wet days of the year. The trail is open year-round and allows horses and bikes. Hog Canyon is about a mile away, and White Tank Trail is about 1.3 miles off. Bohom and Pat Mountain lie within about 4.5 miles.
