Red Hill is a hard hike in the Alpine Ranger District of the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests in eastern Arizona, managed by the Forest Service. The trail is about 15 miles long, with a one-way climb of about 1,100 feet from a low point of roughly 5,900 feet to a high of about 8,300 feet. The route is an out-and-back on natural surface, and it is not accessible. Horses are allowed, but bikes are not. For comfortable weather, aim for late spring or early fall. Typical averages from the nearby Alpine, AZ weather station show May highs around 69°F and September highs around 72°F, while July and August bring the most wet days, about 13 to 15 a month. Horse Ridge Trail #38 and Foote Creek C are both within a few miles. Alpine Ranger District offers river fishing about 4 miles away, and Upper Blue Campground is about 7 miles off.
