Gentry Campground is a Forest Service campground in the Black Mesa Ranger District of the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests in eastern Arizona. It sits within the national forest's ranger district, and the nearest town is Heber, about 11 miles away. The site is a simple base for exploring the surrounding area. Amenities include vault toilets, and a fee is charged for stays. The campground is a compact stop rather than a full-service facility, so plan for basic needs. For comfortable weather, late spring and early fall are the best bets. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Heber show May highs around 71°F and September highs around 75°F, with lows in the upper 30s and 40s. That station sits about 1,000 feet lower than the campground, so temperatures here run cooler. Several other spots are close by. The Hangman and Rocky Bluff hikes are each about 1.7 miles away, and Black Canyon Lake Fishing and Boating Site is about 1.8 miles off. Black Canyon Rim Campground is also about 1.8 miles away.
