Upper Canyon Creek is a Forest Service campground in the Pleasant Valley Ranger District of Arizona's Tonto National Forest. It sits about half a mile from Airplane Flat, another campground, and roughly 3 miles from Canyon Point, making it an easy base for exploring the surrounding network of campgrounds and trails. The site is simple, with vault toilets as the only amenity, and no fees are required to use it. That makes it a straightforward stop for a night out in the forest, without the need for advance planning around costs or facilities. Late spring and early fall are the most comfortable times to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station show May highs around 71°F with lows near 39°F, and September highs around 75°F with lows near 47°F. Winter is much colder, with typical highs in the mid-40s and lows around 20°F. Within a few miles you'll also find the Rim Run and Back Alley mountain biking trails, plus Willow Springs Lake Fishing and Boating Site at about 4.7 miles.
