Benny Creek campground sits on a bench above Benny Creek within the Springerville Ranger District of the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests in eastern Arizona, about 1.5 miles from the Greer weather station. The Forest Service manages the land, and the site sits within walking distance of Bunch Reservoir (Greer Lakes). The campground's sites are fairly open, shaded by ponderosa pine, and Abert squirrels and chipmunks are common around the grounds. Vault toilets are the only amenities on site, and a fee is charged for stays. Summer is the warmest stretch, with typical July highs around 76°F and lows near 47°F, though July and August bring the most wet days of the year. Spring and fall are more comfortable, with typical May highs around 66°F and October highs around 61°F. The Benny Creek Group Area is just 0.1 mile away, and the Hoyer campground and the Pinyon and Fir hikes are each about 0.6 mile off. The Ponderosa hike is about 1.1 mile away.
