San Miguel Mountains

The San Miguel Mountains are a small, scenic mountain range located in northwestern New Mexico. Part of the Sangre de Cristo mountain range, the San Miguels rise from the high desert to elevations over 12,000 feet. The terrain is primarily rugged and alpine, with steep rocky slopes, glacial cirques, and alpine meadows. The range features a mix of spruce-fir and aspen forests, as well as subalpine and alpine tundra environments at the highest elevations.
