What happens when you change your password
Changing your password signs out other devices and disconnects connected apps. Here's exactly what to expect.
Changing it while signed in
Open your profile, choose the Security tab, and use the Change password card. You will be asked for your current password as well as the new one. That is deliberate: it means someone who found your computer already unlocked still cannot change the password without knowing it.
Your other devices are signed out
Changing your password signs out every other device. Your current device stays signed in. Other devices stop being able to renew access straight away and are signed out within the hour.
Your connected apps are disconnected
Every connected app — including AI assistants such as Claude — loses access immediately when you change your password. This is the behaviour most people expect after a security scare, so we do it by default rather than asking. The trade-off is that you will need to reconnect any app you still want, from that app's own settings.
If something does not disconnect
If you are told your password changed but that we could not sign out your other devices, the password change did happen and the cascade did not. Open the Security tab and end the sessions and disconnect the apps by hand, then contact us so we can look into it.
