About Phelan
Phelan is a ghost town sitting just two miles north of Bastrop in Bastrop County, Texas. It occupies the area near the junction of Farm to Market Road 157 and Farm to Market Road 36, making it easy to locate on a map but difficult to explore in person — the site sits on private property.
Because the land is privately held and documented details about the town's origins are scarce, visitors should treat this as a roadside curiosity rather than a destination. There is no public access, no developed trail, and no visitor infrastructure of any kind.
