Ojibway

Ojibway is a vanished community in southern Wayne County, Missouri, now resting at the edge of Lake Wappapello. Before the lake was formed, the town sat along Otter Creek and the St. Louis and San Francisco Railroad line, just west of Chaonia. Today that original townsite lies submerged or hemmed in by the Otter Creek arm of the lake, roughly a mile from the end of Missouri Route PP.

Visitors won't find standing structures or a preserved townsite. The draw is really the quiet lakeside setting and the layered history of a place swallowed by reservoir waters. It suits those interested in exploring forgotten corners of rural Missouri rather than anyone expecting developed amenities.
