Lemonville

Lemonville is a ghost town in northern Orange County in the southeastern corner of Texas, built around the operations of the Lemon Lumber Company. The town's plat was filed in 1901 by William Manuel, who chose the site for its direct access to the Kansas City Southern Railroad. A post office opened in 1902, by which point the local population had grown to around 300 residents.

Today Lemonville is a quiet rural remnant, situated north of the city of Orange and just east of Mauriceville. Visitors drawn to historic Texas settlements may find the area worth a slow drive, though little formal infrastructure exists for tourism. The flat, forested landscape of southeastern Texas can be humid and warm for much of the year, with the mildest conditions for casual exploration falling in the cooler months.
