Carson Hill

Carson Hill is a ghost town in Calaveras County, California, situated about 4 miles south-southeast of Angels Camp at an elevation of 1,447 feet. In its heyday it ranked among the most productive mining camps in the state, with close to $26 million worth of gold and quartz recovered from the area. A branchline of the Sierra Railway once connected the town to Angels Camp, operating until 1935. Today Carson Hill is recognized as California Historical Landmark #274.
