Worthington Mountains Wilderness Area

Worthington Mountains Wilderness Area spans over 30,000 acres of federally protected backcountry in Nevada, managed by the Bureau of Land Management. This is primitive terrain where motors, mechanical travel, and developed infrastructure are prohibited—visitors experience genuine wilderness on foot or horseback only.

The area offers hiking and backpacking in a remote, non-motorized setting ideal for those seeking solitude and untracked terrain. Camping is permitted throughout the wilderness under Leave No Trace principles. There are no roads, trails, or facilities within the area; navigation and route-finding are your responsibility.

Access requires leaving your vehicle behind and entering on foot. Spring and fall provide moderate conditions, while summer brings heat and winter snow and cold. This is a place for experienced backcountry travelers comfortable with self-sufficiency, map and compass skills, and the discipline to leave the landscape undisturbed.
