Wee Thump Joshua Tree Wilderness Area

Wee Thump Joshua Tree Wilderness Area is a 6,489-acre federally designated Wilderness in Nevada, managed by the Bureau of Land Management. The landscape is primitive Mojave Desert terrain, undeveloped and roadless, offering solitude and backcountry experience far from motorized access.

This is strict wilderness: no roads, no motors, no mechanized travel of any kind. Visitors come for hiking and backpacking in a landscape of rock, sparse vegetation, and open desert. The wilderness protects the character of the land by restricting human impact to foot traffic and Leave No Trace practices. Access is by foot only, and the experience is defined by self-reliance and minimal development.

Visit in the cooler months when desert heat is manageable. The Mojave Desert climate means extreme summer temperatures and cold nights in winter. Spring and fall offer the most favorable conditions for backcountry travel. Water sources are limited in wilderness; carry what you need and camp responsibly, following all wilderness regulations.
