The Brothers Wilderness

The Brothers Wilderness encompasses 16,298 acres of federally protected backcountry in Washington, managed by the Forest Service as a non-motorized primitive area. This is genuine wilderness—no roads, no motors, no mechanized travel of any kind. Visitors come here to backpack, hike, and find solitude far from development, moving through the landscape on foot alone.

Access requires a commitment to Leave No Trace ethics and self-sufficiency. There are no facilities, no maintained infrastructure, and no shortcuts. You'll carry everything you need, camp responsibly, and pack out all waste. The wilderness designation means the landscape remains wild and undeveloped—that's the trade-off for the peace and remoteness you're seeking.

Summer and early fall offer the most reliable conditions for travel. Spring and late fall are possible but may involve snow, rain, and shorter daylight. Winter conditions can be severe and should be attempted only with winter-specific skills and gear. Plan ahead, know your abilities, and respect both the rules and the terrain.
