Spirit Mountian Wilderness Area

Spirit Mountain Wilderness Area is a 552-acre federally protected wilderness in Nevada managed by the Bureau of Land Management. It offers a primitive backcountry experience for hikers and backpackers seeking solitude in an undeveloped landscape far from roads and motorized use.

As a designated Wilderness Area, the terrain is closed to all mechanized travel, mountain bikes, and motorized vehicles. Visitors must travel on foot, and the area operates under strict Leave No Trace principles—pack out what you pack in, camp below treeline where permitted, and respect the non-motorized character of the space. Access is foot-traffic only, with no developed trailheads or infrastructure typical of recreation areas.

The best time to visit is late spring through early fall, when weather is most favorable for backcountry travel. Winter conditions can make access difficult and hazardous. Bring plenty of water, reliable navigation tools, and be prepared for self-sufficient travel in remote terrain.
