South Pahroc Range Wilderness Area

The South Pahroc Range Wilderness Area spans nearly 26,000 acres of federally protected backcountry in Nevada, managed by the Bureau of Land Management. This is genuine wilderness—no roads, motorized vehicles, or mechanized travel are permitted. Visitors come here to hike, backpack, and experience remote solitude on foot.

As a primitive wilderness area, the landscape is shaped by natural forces alone. You'll encounter rugged terrain, desert and high-desert conditions, and the quiet that comes with being far from development. The wilderness rules are strict and non-negotiable: travel by foot only, camp lightly, and practice Leave No Trace ethics. Pack out everything you pack in, stay on established routes where they exist, and respect the land's fragility.

Access is limited to trailheads and foot travel. The remoteness and lack of infrastructure mean you must be self-sufficient—bring plenty of water, navigation tools, and supplies. Spring and fall offer the most comfortable conditions; summer heat and winter snow and cold present real challenges. This is a place for experienced backcountry users who understand wilderness travel and are prepared for isolation.
