Simeonof Wilderness Area

Simeonof Wilderness Area spans nearly 26,000 acres in southeastern Alaska, offering primitive backcountry terrain accessible only by non-motorized means. This federally designated Wilderness is managed by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and represents true roadless country where motorized travel and mechanized equipment are prohibited.

Visitors come here to backpack, hike, and experience deep solitude in remote Alaskan terrain. The area demands self-reliance and careful planning—access requires water transport or air charter, and once on the ground, you're entirely dependent on your own skills and Leave No Trace ethics. Weather, tidal conditions, and isolation are real considerations; there are no maintained trails, ranger stations, or services within the Wilderness itself.
