Savage Run Wilderness

Savage Run Wilderness is a 15,284-acre federally protected wilderness area in Wyoming managed by the Forest Service. This is genuine backcountry—no roads, motors, or mechanized travel are permitted. The landscape is primitive and undeveloped, offering hikers and backpackers a genuine wilderness experience far from infrastructure.

The wilderness welcomes foot traffic and backcountry camping for those seeking solitude and untracked terrain. Visitors must follow Leave No Trace principles: pack out all waste, camp away from water sources, use established campsites where they exist, and respect the non-motorized character of the area. Access requires a short drive to trailheads on National Forest land, after which all travel is on foot.
