Salome Wilderness

Salome Wilderness is an 18,534-acre federally protected wilderness in Arizona, managed by the Forest Service. The landscape is primitive backcountry open only to foot traffic and non-motorized travel. This is a place for hikers and backpackers seeking solitude in an undeveloped setting where roads, motors, and mechanized equipment are prohibited.

Visitors should understand the core reality of wilderness travel: you are responsible for self-rescue, navigation, and Leave No Trace principles. There are no maintained facilities, marked trails, or services within the boundary. Camping, water sources, and route-finding depend entirely on your preparation and skill. This is genuine backcountry, not a day-use park.
