Saddle Mountain Wilderness

Saddle Mountain Wilderness is a 41,143-acre federally protected wilderness area in Arizona managed by the Forest Service. The landscape offers primitive backcountry terrain where hiking and backpacking are the primary ways to experience the land. Visitors come here seeking solitude and a true wilderness experience away from developed infrastructure.

As a designated Wilderness Area, the land is managed under strict rules: no roads, no motorized vehicles, and no mechanized travel of any kind. All visitors must practice Leave No Trace principles—pack out everything you pack in, camp only in dispersed sites, and minimize your footprint. Access is by foot only, and you'll encounter no maintained facilities or services within the wilderness boundary. Come prepared to be entirely self-sufficient and to respect the primitive character that defines this protected landscape.
