Richland Creek Wilderness

Richland Creek Wilderness is an 11,674-acre federally protected wilderness area in Arkansas, managed by the Forest Service. It offers backcountry hiking and backpacking in a primitive, non-motorized landscape where solitude and wild character are the draw. No roads, motors, or mechanized travel are permitted—this is genuine wilderness where Leave No Trace principles are both the law and the ethic that keeps the place wild.

Visitors come for hiking and backpacking in an undeveloped setting. The wilderness supports foot travel and dispersed camping under wilderness regulations. Access requires driving to trailheads outside the wilderness boundary, then traveling by foot into the area. Spring through fall are the primary seasons; winter conditions and water crossings can be challenging. This is a place for self-reliant backcountry users who respect the wilderness designation and pack out everything they pack in.
