Pond Mountain Wilderness

Pond Mountain Wilderness is a 6,920-acre federally protected wilderness area in Tennessee, managed by the Forest Service. It offers backcountry hiking and backpacking in a primitive, non-motorized setting where solitude and untracked terrain define the experience. No roads, motors, or mechanized travel are permitted; all access is on foot. Visitors must practice Leave No Trace ethics—pack out what you pack in, camp responsibly, and respect the wilderness character that makes this place worth protecting. The area is best visited during mild months when weather and trail conditions favor foot travel.
