Pine Creek Wilderness

Pine Creek Wilderness is a 13,262-acre federally protected Wilderness Area in California, managed by the Forest Service. It offers backcountry hiking and backpacking in a primitive, non-motorized landscape where solitude and self-reliance are central to the experience.

As a designated Wilderness, the area operates under strict rules: no roads, no motors, and no mechanized travel of any kind. Visitors must travel on foot or horseback and practice Leave No Trace principles—pack out what you pack in, camp only in designated spots, and minimize your footprint. Access is trailhead-based, and you'll need to plan your route and supplies carefully since there are no facilities within the Wilderness boundary.

The best time to visit is late spring through early fall, when trails are clear and weather is most stable. Winter conditions can make access difficult. Come prepared for self-sufficient backcountry travel: carry adequate water, a map, and be ready for isolation.
