About Parsnip Peak Wilderness Area

Parsnip Peak Wilderness Area spans over 43,000 acres of federally protected backcountry in Nevada, managed by the Bureau of Land Management. This is true wilderness—no roads, motorized vehicles, or mechanized travel are permitted. Visitors come here to hike and backpack through primitive terrain, seeking the solitude and self-reliance that wilderness travel demands.

Access is on foot only. All travel must be non-motorized, and Leave No Trace principles are not optional—they are the standard by which this landscape is preserved. There are no facilities, no marked trail system guarantees, and no cell service. This is a place for experienced backcountry users who are comfortable with navigation, route-finding, and complete self-sufficiency. Spring through fall offers the most favorable conditions; winter weather can render access difficult or impossible.
