North McCullough Wilderness Area

North McCullough Wilderness Area spans nearly 15,000 acres of federally protected backcountry in Nevada, managed by the Bureau of Land Management as a non-motorized wilderness. The landscape offers primitive hiking and backpacking opportunity in a setting where no roads, motors, or mechanized travel are permitted—genuine backcountry where solitude and Leave No Trace ethics are fundamental to the experience.

Visitors should expect rugged terrain suited to foot travel and self-reliance. Access requires knowledge of trailheads and route-finding; no maintained infrastructure exists within the wilderness boundary. Winter conditions can be severe, making spring through fall the practical seasons. Plan for water sources carefully, carry all supplies, and respect wilderness rules: camp below treeline where applicable, pack out all waste, and travel only on foot or horseback.
