North Fork Wilderness

North Fork Wilderness is a federally protected Wilderness Area spanning 8,296 acres in California and managed by the Forest Service. This is genuine backcountry—primitive and roadless, with no motorized or mechanized travel allowed. Visitors come here to hike and backpack through undeveloped landscape, seeking the solitude and self-reliance that wilderness travel demands.

Access is on foot only. All visitors must follow Leave No Trace principles: pack out what you pack in, camp away from water sources, stay on or near established routes, and leave no trace of your passage. There are no facilities, no maintained roads, and no engines. This is the reality of federally designated Wilderness—it exists to preserve wild character, not convenience.
