Mount Wilson Wilderness Area

Mount Wilson Wilderness Area spans 24,131 acres of federally protected backcountry in Arizona, managed by the Bureau of Land Management. This is primitive country: no roads, no motors, no mechanized travel of any kind. It exists for non-motorized recreation and solitude—hiking and backpacking are the main ways to experience it.

Visitors should expect true wilderness conditions and must follow Leave No Trace principles strictly. Water sources, trail conditions, and seasonal access vary; check current conditions with the BLM before heading out. The area's remote character means self-sufficiency is essential. Spring and fall typically offer the most stable weather for backcountry travel in this region, though seasons vary by elevation and exposure.
