Monarch Wilderness

Monarch Wilderness is a 44,190-acre federally protected wilderness area in California, managed by the Forest Service. It is primitive backcountry where roads, motors, and mechanized travel are prohibited. Visiting requires commitment to wilderness ethics: travel on foot, camp responsibly, and follow Leave No Trace principles. There are no maintained facilities or services within the wilderness boundary. Access depends on trailheads outside the wilderness and seasonal conditions; snow and weather can limit passability in winter and early spring.
