Little Picacho Wilderness Area

Little Picacho Wilderness Area is a 39,133-acre federally protected wilderness in California managed by the Bureau of Land Management. This is primitive backcountry where no roads, motors, or mechanized travel are permitted—a place defined by solitude and the rhythms of foot travel.

The area is open to hiking and backpacking for those seeking remote desert or semi-arid landscape. Like all federally designated Wilderness, it operates under strict Leave No Trace principles: pack out what you pack in, camp below tree line where applicable, and travel on established routes or cross-country on durable surfaces. Mechanized equipment, mountain bikes, and motorized access are prohibited.
