About Leaf Wilderness
Leaf Wilderness is a 993-acre federally designated Wilderness Area in Mississippi, managed by the Forest Service. It offers primitive backcountry hiking and backpacking in a non-motorized setting where solitude and Leave No Trace ethics are the foundation of the experience.
The wilderness is accessible to foot traffic only — no roads, motorized vehicles, or mechanized travel are permitted. Visitors should plan for self-sufficient backcountry travel and come prepared to pack out all waste. This is the real wilderness experience: you navigate by map and compass, camp primitively, and share the land with minimal infrastructure or human impact.
