Jumbo Springs Wilderness Area

Jumbo Springs Wilderness Area is a 4,756-acre federally protected wilderness in Nevada managed by the Bureau of Land Management. It is a primitive backcountry destination where hiking and backpacking are the primary ways to experience the landscape. Like all designated Wilderness Areas, it is closed to motorized vehicles, mountain bikes, and mechanized travel of any kind—visitors must travel on foot or horseback only.

The wilderness offers genuine solitude and untracked terrain for those seeking to escape developed areas. Visitors should come prepared for remote backcountry conditions and must practice Leave No Trace principles: pack out all waste, camp on durable surfaces away from water sources, and travel quietly to minimize impact on the landscape. There are no maintained trails, facilities, or services within the wilderness boundary. Access points and seasonal conditions vary, so check with the BLM before planning your trip to confirm current access and any seasonal closures.
