Ireteba Peaks Wilderness Area

Ireteba Peaks Wilderness Area is a 32,533-acre federally protected wilderness in Nevada managed by the Bureau of Land Management. The area offers backcountry hiking and backpacking in a primitive, non-motorized landscape where solitude and self-reliance are central to the experience.

This is true wilderness: no roads, no motors, no mechanized travel of any kind. All access is on foot, and the onus is on you to travel lightly and leave no trace. Water sources are sparse in the desert terrain, so planning and preparation are essential. Weather can shift quickly, and rescue response times reflect the remoteness of the place.
