Huston Park Wilderness

Huston Park Wilderness is a 31,057-acre federally protected wilderness area in Wyoming managed by the Forest Service. It offers backcountry hiking and backpacking in a primitive setting where motorized travel and mechanized equipment are prohibited. Visitors come here for solitude and self-reliant exploration in a landscape shaped by non-motorized recreation only.

Access requires leaving vehicles behind and traveling on foot or horseback. The wilderness operates under strict Leave No Trace principles—pack out what you pack in, camp responsibly, and travel without roads or motors. Summer and early fall offer the most reliable conditions, though snow can persist into early summer and return by late fall. This is unmodified backcountry: bring navigation skills, adequate supplies, and respect for the landscape's fragile character.
