Guadalupe Mountains Wilderness Area protects nearly 46,000 acres of remote backcountry in West Texas under federal Wilderness designation. This is primitive country—no roads, motors, or mechanized travel of any kind. Visitors come here to hike and backpack through untrammeled terrain, seeking the solitude and self-reliance that true wilderness demands.

The area is managed by the National Park Service and operates under strict Leave No Trace principles. All travel is on foot; pack in everything you need and pack out all waste. Water sources, weather, and navigation are your responsibility.
