Gee Creek Wilderness

Gee Creek Wilderness is a 2,580-acre federally protected wilderness area in Tennessee managed by the Forest Service. The area preserves primitive backcountry open only to non-motorized travel, drawing visitors seeking solitude and untracked exploration away from roads and developed infrastructure.

Hiking and backpacking are the primary ways to experience the wilderness. The landscape and trail network invite foot travel into undeveloped terrain, though the remote character means you should arrive prepared for self-sufficient backcountry travel. As a designated Wilderness Area, Gee Creek operates under strict Leave No Trace principles—pack out what you pack in, camp responsibly, and respect the ban on all motorized and mechanized equipment.

Access is on foot only, with no roads penetrating the wilderness boundary. Plan visits during the warmer months when trails are most passable; winter conditions can create hazards.
